Our Catholic Family Profile

 

We are a joyful Catholic homeschooling family from Minnesota who has already been blessed with three beautiful daughters and one wonderful son. While it may seem odd that we would want to adopt another child, it’s pretty easy to understand; we are crazy about kids! We are a close-knit and happy family; we have a lot of love for children and a passion for parenting.  We think of parenthood as our profession. Friends often comment on how much time we make for our kids!

 

It is Christelle's dream, especially, to have a family which reflects the diversity of the human family.  We have so much fun as a family, that we would love to provide a family and home for kids who really need one!

 

We met in college in 1994.  Christelle was the leader of our campus college Christian fellowship group, and Chris was an incoming frosh.  When Christelle saw Chris for the first time, her heart skipped a beat!  Yeah, it was pretty much love at first sight for Christelle!  A couple of months later, we went on our first date as a bet.  Chris said it would snow, Christelle said it wouldn't.  Either way, the loser had to take the winner out on a date!!  Christelle lost, and we did go out.  (Even though he won the bet, Chris paid anyway---smart guy!)  From then on, we've been together!

 

Chris and I have a strong marriage.  We were married in August of 1997 in Northfield, MN at the college where we met.  We continue to grow as a couple and are learning to make more time for each other, even though we have many responsibilities due to our growing family.   We have a weekly "date night" which we guard jealously!

 

We love helping our kids experience the beauty of God’s world. While Chris’s parents live farther away, they make it possible for us to go every year to Cedar Campus, a beautiful camp on Lake Huron in Upper Michigan. At Cedar Campus, we spend a week soaking in the sun, going on hikes, sailing, and enjoying long, relaxed conversations with our extended family. We not only see Chris's parents--Opa and Oma-- but also Chris’s sister and her husband, his aunt and uncle, and his grandparents! The girls love it at Cedar!

We would love to welcome your child into our family.  In our community, and especially in our church, many children are adopted and it is completely accepted and honored.  Our middle daughter's godparents, who are very close friends, have both biological and adopted children in their wonderful family.  This is true for another family who are our friends.  So we have several role models and mentors for how to blend biological and adopted children into the same family. 

 

Our girls are aware of adoption and are very open to having more siblings.  We have a lot of love and laughter as well as great big sisters who are active and fun-loving and are great with babies and toddlers and a little guy who is a bundle of fun!  We would be delighted to welcome even more kids into our home!
